Leonardo: Anatomist  

As a new exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci’s anatomical drawings opens this week at the Queen’s Gallery in Buckingham Palace, curator Martin Clayton discusses how accurate his depictions were.

Leonardo gave us some of the first and most groundbreaking glimpses to the true nature of human anatomy. While his interpretations were far from perfect, he was far more than an artist who “dabbled” in medical illustration. He had the mind of a scientist, and expressed it via the hands of an artist.
